Fèt Gede

Do you know what a zombie is? Day of the Dead? Where did that come from? 

Fèt Gede retells the story of the first successful uprising of the enslaved in the French colony of 1791-1803, later named Haiti.

The main character is a zombie girl. The player progresses around the map as her, completing tasks that move the plot along and show the main character's past. In Voodoo, zombies are not monsters to be feared, but rather creatures that the enslaved were afraid to become. It is devoid of a soul and mindlessly obeys its master. By finding details and references, we learn information about the history of the zombie without losing the canonical traits of modern zombies in pop culture.

Despite the educational nature of the game, much is presented non-verbally, relying on the player's wits and leaving room for the imagination. The brevity of the game and the story quickly informs the player upon playthrough that this is a story about losing and finding one's humanity.
